what about Darwinia is "open source"? the source is available, yes, but it's not under any known open source license as far as i'm aware though i'm not paying $45 for access too the source to read it.

This is a game that will nver be finished (I hope), it has some obvious stuff that should be fixed. Also the story is quite nice but since developers comes and go over time not everything is super coherent with the main story. However the strength of this game is something that is hard to come by in other games that are more "complete" or has higher production values - this game has a great community. I've met loads of interesting people in different walks of life, most of them are friendly.

I was playing when the split from Platyna happened. I didn't have any big bias either way. I didn't dislike her, I didn't dislike the people that decided to move away from her server. Apparantly the devs/gm's and longtime players thought she was not involved enough to be the one that had the final say in everything concerning the direction of the game.

They felt that they were held back, so they made a copy of the game and hosted it elsewhere. Platyna still had a original copy with everything left, the players basically voted with their feet. Platyna was not and never will be TMW, however she was instrumental in it's history for setting up the first server that was ment to be played (rather than a testing server) without her there would never have been a community in the first place.

I think she really deserves a lot of credit for this, but I also think that the move away from her server was necessary for the game not grind to a halt and slowly die away.

Platyna was a host for www.themanaworld.org If we were not authorized to change our host provider than why do we still remain the proper domain holder? Platyna no offense but your hard to get ahold of so we dumped you. sorry

Podría decirse que si porque ambos usan el mismo motor Id Tech 3 que usaba Quake III y que fue liberado por Id Software (creadora de los Quake)
